AS A CHILD IN THE MID-1970S, Jennifer Lopez watched movies and dreamed of being a part of them. However, these were pipe dreams for Latinos at this time; very few Latino actors or performers had achieved celebrity status when young Jennifer was growing up. But Lopez did not mind the challenge. She hoped to break down the barriers for Latinos in the entertainment business and prove that when it came to success, it was not about heritage. It was about talent. It was her dream and her commitment that took her from a little girl in Bronx, New York, to becoming one of the world’s biggest superstars.
